Increase-Your-Sales-Online-Social-Media-1

You know that your customers and prospects are on social media, but you’re not so sure how to translate this into increased sales for your business. Maybe you’ve tried running some ads yourself on Facebook and failed, or you don’t even know where to start with Using Social Media for Sales.

Not to worry, you’re not alone. Most of our clients started in the same position as you. But your instincts are correct about social media being an untapped source of potential.

To deliver sales, you need to target the right audience and get them highly engaged with your message. Social media platforms offer just that: Finely tuned targeting options and a product experience that keeps you coming back for more (think how many times you’ve lost track of time scrolling or watching videos).

Businesses who harness these capabilities control how their brand is talked about online, get spy-like access to what people are saying about their competitors, and get a reliable channel for what they’re truly after: sales that grow business. Companies who neglect social media and stick to what they know risk losing market share to competitors.

In this blog post, we’ll share our experiences to give you a better understanding of how you can make the most out of social media platforms to generate more sales effectively.

Know the right platform to use

Using Social Media for Sales

Social media is a great avenue to generate sales and increase revenue. But prior to that, you must understand where your target customers spend most of their digital time on and pick the right platforms in order to reach your target audience. There is no point spending your marketing budget and talent on a platform with hardly any prospects.

For example, Instagram might be the ideal place for a fashion eCommerce business to reach potential customers, but that might not be as effective for professional services, because Instagram is more visually aesthetic and generally works better for consumer products. So how do you figure out which social media outlet is best suited to your business?

Buyer personas are the best method for profiling your ideal customer and uncovering which social platform is more appropriate to reach them. Buyer personas can reveal targeting information such as age, interests, geography, industry, and browsing behaviors, just to name a few.

Establish a strong presence

The old adage “All publicity is good publicity” is not necessarily true for a business like yours. Having a strong and positive brand reputation means your audience would most likely recommend your brand to others.

Create a trustworthy persona on your chosen platforms and engage with your audience by joining relevant communities such as a Facebook group, Reddit discussion, or Medium. Establish a tone that is unique to your brand. Share engaging and informative content from relevant and credible sources. You want to provide helpful information for your audience who may end up as your customers. But before you reach that stage, you’ll have to first come across as a reliable brand.

Connect and build relationships

Using Social Media for Sales

Engagement is one of the most powerful marketing tactics to get more sales leads, and social media makes it easier than ever to interface with your audience, even in real-time. Once you have established your presence, you will need to connect with your current and potential consumers. Comment on customer posts and answer their questions. Reply to both good and bad reviews, and ask your clients for ideas to improve your product. Interact with your consumers to show them that you care.

Responding to your DMs (direct messages) can earn your extra points. You’d be surprised that many businesses out there never check their social media DMs. Be the one that does and customers will come to you.

Once you’ve developed a relationship with your consumers, you will have a better understanding of their needs and expectations, and find ways to sell your products without coming off as too pushy. You can also provide links to your website on your pages. A link shows customers that the business is credible since it gives them the information they need.

Post often and consistently

People are always looking forward to new information. Keep your page active by regularly posting relevant and consistent content about your brand. The content should not appear overly promotional since people get tired of looking at advertisements. You want to address the struggles your prospects are facing and show how your business can add value to their businesses. Post content that improves the lives of consumers. Make sure that your content is clear, informative, interesting, and easy on the eye.

Also, make sure to post content that piques everyone’s interest and establishes you as an authority. Whether you’re posting a link, an infographic, or a status update, your content should be unique and should attract the customer to your page. Having the right content increases the confidence people have in your brand, and thus increases sales.

Prioritizing your social media strategy

Social media is a great way to market your brand above and beyond your tried-and-true channels of promoting your business. By using different social media platforms, you can incrementally boost your sales without spending too much money. To reap the rewards of social media advertising, you need to be active on social media, constantly engaging with prospects, and push out the right messages to communicate with your clients.
